Parking in Dubai is easy once you know the system — and knowing it keeps a fine off your rental. Here is how paid parking, free parking and payment work in 2026.
How Dubai’s paid parking works
Public on-street parking in Dubai is run by the RTA (branded Parkin). Paid zones are marked by blue-and-white poles and signs showing the zone code and hours. You pay for the time you need, then keep an eye on the clock.
When parking is free
Public paid parking is generally free on Sundays and public holidays. Most shopping malls, and many hotels and residential buildings, also offer free or validated parking — always the easiest option.
How to pay: app or SMS
Pay through the Parkin or RTA Dubai app, at a nearby meter, or by SMS — send your plate number and the zone code to the number on the sign. Extend remotely from the app before your time runs out.
Avoid a parking fine
Do not overstay, and never use reserved or disabled bays without a permit — inspectors patrol constantly. Like any traffic fine, a parking penalty on a rental is the driver’s responsibility.
A tip for renters
A compact sedan or economy car slips into tight bays far more easily than a large SUV. Tell us where you are staying and we will suggest the right size.
