How to Rent a Car in Dubai: Step-by-Step (Documents, Payment & Delivery)

Renting your first car in Dubai sounds like it should involve a counter, a stack of forms, and someone trying to talk you into insurance you don’t need. It doesn’t — at least not with us. There’s no office to find and no deposit on most of the cars, and the whole thing usually happens over WhatsApp while you’re still unpacking your suitcase. Here’s exactly how it works, from choosing the car to handing the keys back at the end.

Step 1 — Pick the car, then the dates

Start with the trip, not the car. Two of you doing meetings around Business Bay? A small economy car is all you’ll ever need, and it’ll barely touch the fuel gauge. Family of five with a boot full of suitcases, heading out to the dunes? That’s an SUV. Marking a wedding or a big birthday? That’s exactly what the luxury cars are for. Once you know the shape of the car, work out how long you need it — and here’s the one money habit worth forming on day one: the longer you book, the less you pay per day. A full month often costs less than thirty separate daily rates would.

Step 2 — Get your documents together

This bit takes about two minutes. What you need depends on who you are:

That’s genuinely all of it. If you’re not sure whether your licence counts here, our guide for tourists and the full requirements page break it down by nationality.

Step 3 — Agree the price, and check what’s inside it

Always ask for the all-in number rather than the headline rate. A proper quote already has insurance folded in, and it should be upfront about the deposit — which, on most of our cars, doesn’t exist. Two things worth a quick look before you commit: how the insurance and excess actually work, and how any deposit is handled. And if you just want to know what’s fair, the cost guide lays out real 2026 ranges by car and by duration.

Step 4 — We bring it to you

No branch, no queue, no taxi ride to some industrial estate to collect it. Tell us where you are — a hotel in the Marina, an apartment in JVC, your office in DIFC, or the arrivals hall at DXB — and we deliver the car free. When it arrives, we walk around it with you, note anything already scuffed (snap a couple of photos yourself while you’re at it; any decent company will be glad you did), you sign, and you’re off.

Step 5 — Drive, then hand it back wherever suits you

Every car comes with a Salik tag already fitted, so the toll gates simply work — no stopping, AED 4 a crossing, all totted up and settled at the end. When you’re finished, we come and collect from wherever you happen to be. You never have to plan your last morning in Dubai around getting a car back to someone.

A few things first-timers always ask

How long does all this actually take? If your documents are ready, we can often have a car at your door the same day — sometimes inside the hour.

Can I do it without a credit card? Usually, yes, because most of the fleet is no-deposit. Message us and we’ll walk through the options with you.

Are the cars manual or automatic? Automatic, every one of them — that’s the norm across the UAE, so there’s nothing to relearn.

Ready when you are

That’s the whole thing — no desk, no deposit, no drama. Send us a WhatsApp with the car you like, your dates and where you’re staying, and we’ll handle the rest. Brand new to this? Start with the first-timer’s guide, or read the complete guide to renting a car in Dubai for the full picture.
